s of Interest Endoscopic Brow Lift: A Retrospective Review of 628Consecutive Cases Over 5 Years. CHIU E, BAKER DC; NEW YORK, NY In this review of the largest series of endoscopic brow lift proce-dures to date, the authors surveyed the plastic surgeons fromone institution on their experiences. Plastic surgeons from theManhattan Ear Nose and Throat Infirmary performed a total of628 cases between 1997 and 2001. Of all respondents, 75% ofsurgeons occasionally or regularly continue to recommendendoscopic brow lifts. Although the number of endoscopic pro-cedures diminished towards the end of the study period, theabsolute number of procedures continue to be greater thanopen coronal browlifts. Interestingly, surgeons in practice lessthan five years performed endoscopic brow lifts twice as oftenas others in the group, reflecting the acceptance of newer pro-cedures and innovations with younger surgeons. The majorityof surgeons also prefer to enhance their surgical results withbotulinum toxin within six months of the surgery. The authorsconclude that although patient and physician acceptance ofthis procedure is high, there is still room for improvement inthe surgical approach to brow ptosis. Plast Reconstr Surg 2003;112: 628. Lower Eyelid CO2 Rejuvenation CARTER SR, SEIFF SR, CHOO PH, VALLABHANATH P; SAN FRANCISCO CA Almost all the existing articles in the peer-reviewed literaturepertaining to cosmetic eyelid surgery discuss preoperative eval-uation to surgical techniques and refinements to long term out-comes. Very few authors have detailed the results of arandomized, prospective clinical study of cosmetic eyelidsurgery patients. Dr. Carter and her colleagues have examinedresults of transconjunctival lower lid blepharoplasty with andwithout CO2 laser resurfacing in a prospective manner. Resultswere documented with standardized photographs and gradedby a masked examiner. Transconjunctival lower lid blepharo-plasty alone was highly effective in the reduction of lower lidbulging but did cause an increase in lower lid wrinkling in 46%of patients. When adjunct CO2 laser resurfacing was performedafter transconjunctival blepharoplasty, there was a statisticallysignificant improvement in lower lid wrinkles. The authors con-clude that transconjunctival blepharoplasty and CO2 laserresurfacing affords excellent results and is an alternative totraditional transcutaneous blepharoplasty. متن کاملCosmetic outcome of posterior approach ptosis surgery (an American Ophthalmological Society thesis).
PURPOSE To test the hypothesis that posterior approach ptosis surgery, with or without blepharoplasty, can improve the cosmetic appearance of the eyelid. METHODS In a retrospective, observational, consecutive case cohort study, 261 patients who had posterior approach upper eyelid ptosis surgery with or without concurrent blepharoplasty performed by one surgeon, between 1997 and 2009, were rev...
متن کاملExtended Hair-bearing Lateral Orbital Flap for Simultaneous Reconstruction of Eyebrow and Eyelid

METHODS We treated 6 patients with partial eyebrow and upper eyelid defect...
